Popcornography’s Best and Worst of 2015

Movies of 2015Before we go forward let’s have a little look back… The best and the worst of 2015.

RickWritten By: Rick Masters

Welcome to my yearly ramble about which films tickled my fancy and which films made my insides curl up and die. 2015 saw some great releases with the return of my most beloved franchise to date (yes that includes the third one!) with Jurassic World stomping all over the box office back in June and becoming a roaring success (these puns will continue throughout… apologies). We had the Avengers team up and fight to save the world again and at the back of the year a small film called Star Wars did alright in bringing in some much needed cash for a tiny little company called Disney (keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks for a delve into the world of Disney which I hope you’ll all find fascinating)

So go grab a cuppa and have a scroll down my little list of films from 2015

We’ll start by getting the negative stuff out the way first shall we? Which films failed to live up to my expectations…

Fantastic Four

Well that was all cheery wasn’t it? I must emphasise, these are the films that let me down the most NOT the worst films of the year (Although most are pretty bad with the exception of SPECTRE, that at least has the possibility of repeat viewing once the Blu-ray appears)

So ‘What are your favourites?!?’ you yell at your 17″ PC monitor while eating a Fromage Frais yogurt (If by a miracle that’s you then how freaked out are ya?!?!) Lets delive into my top 5.

The Martian
star wars

Jurassic world

Some honourable mentions:

SICARIO – Brilliantly tense thriller that just missed out on the top 5 most enjoyable.
THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. – Great movie, went in with no expectations and left happy.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION – Best in the series and certainly in my top 10
THE AGE OF ADALINE – A change from my usual movie genres and thoroughly enjoyed it
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD – I didn’t quite get on the huge praise train this film got but there’s no denying it’s a great flick.
EX MACHINA – Interesting and tense movie that took me by surprise only let down slightly by its final act.

There we have it. My top 5 Most disappointing and my Most enjoyable. What do you think? Do you agree or do you think I’m a raving lunatic who has an uncontrollable desire to eat every lamp shade I come across (You’d be right my good man! I need help.)
A few of my fellow podcasters have different opinions (usually wrong) and you can hear what their top 5’s are in the infamous Christmas podcast episode right here:
